Dr. Velma Brown

Educational Foundation

Dr. Brown holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from The University of the West Indies, a Certificate of Legal Education from the Norman Manley Law School, a Master's degree in Government and International Relations, and a PhD in Business Administration. She has also completed postgraduate training in negotiation at the University of Oxford, further strengthening her expertise in dispute resolution, legal strategy, and complex negotiations.

Distinguished Career

Her distinguished career includes service as a Resident Magistrate in Clarendon and St. Andrew, where she gained significant judicial experience in the administration of justice. She is also the Founder and President of the Law College of the Americas, reflecting her deep commitment to expanding access to legal education, professional training, and development throughout the Caribbean.

Consultancy & Institutional Impact

In addition to her legal and academic work, Dr. Brown provides consultancy services to institutions including the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC), Manpower & Maintenance Services Limited, and various ICT-related initiatives. Her advisory work spans legal affairs, training, governance, organisational development, and strategic planning.

Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Brown is actively engaged in civic leadership and youth development. Through her involvement with the Children Upliftment and Restoration Foundation (C.U.R.E.), she continues to champion community advancement, youth empowerment, and meaningful social impact.
